Noli Valenzuela, the Jalisco-born boxer who proudly represents Chapala, kept his perfect professional record with a 15th victory on Feb. 28 at Arena Jalisco. He knocked out Joel Córdova by technical knockout after six rounds, cementing his status as a top featherweight prospect.

Despite the win, Valenzuela, 22, wanted a more decisive finish. “I wanted to knock him out, but the other corner stopped the fight,” he told Semanario Laguna.

Valenzuela said staying undefeated adds pressure. “Everyone wants to beat me. I have to train harder every day to stay ahead,” he said.

Under coach Rafael Guzmán Roda, Valenzuela plans to undertake specialized training abroad in the coming months. He aims to win a world championship and unify the featherweight division titles, while leaving open the option to move up a weight class.

Valenzuela said limited support from municipal and state institutions pushed him to turn professional on Nov. 4, 2022, in search of the financial backing that amateur boxing did not provide.
