The professional Third Division (TDP) team Charales de Chapala started their return from vacation on the right foot by defeating their counterparts, Nacional de Tonalá, 3–0 during the Matchday 14 game held Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Juan Rayo municipal field.

The first half and part of the second were characterized by a dynamic start in which both teams battled for possession across the field, but neither found the back of the net, a dynamism that satisfied the fans. In the second half, at 54:50, Charales de Chapala scored the first goal of the match after forward Jahir Ascencio (number 5) created a mismatch in Tonalá’s defense.

A foul on Elías Ramírez by Nacional’s number 18 gave Chapala a free kick just outside the penalty area. Substitute Carlos Corona (number 16) capitalized on the opportunity at 72:41, scoring the second goal, from which the visiting team could not recover. Under moderate rain, the third goal came a minute later—at 75:31—with a brace (two goals scored) from Ascencio, effectively sealing the victory.

With their sights set on reaching the top of the table, Charales de Chapala maintains their nine-game unbeaten streak.
