Charales de Chapala secured their spot in the semifinals of Zone B of the TDP League after staging a historic comeback on Saturday, May 9. The team managed to overturn the deficit and defeated Aves Blancas in an intense penalty shootout.

At the “Juan Rayo” Municipal Stadium, which was packed to capacity, the home team won 2-0 in regulation time. Goals by Yahir Ascencio and Elías Ramírez tied the aggregate score at 2-2, forcing the match to be decided from the penalty spot.

The squad led by Érick Gutiérrez entered this second-leg match needing to come from behind after losing by the same score in the first leg in Tepatitlán de Morelos. The team’s determination was key to erasing the opponent’s lead.

In the decisive moment, accuracy and composure favored the Chapala side. Carlos Corona and Emmanuel Enciso converted the penalty shots that sealed the penalty shootout 2-1, sparking euphoria among the home fans.

The club now awaits an opponent for the semifinal of the current season of Liga TDP.
