About Us

lakesidenewschapala.com is a volunteer-driven joint project of the Semanario Laguna newspaper and the Lake Chapala Society (LCS), created to provide Expats with news and information in English about daily life and priorities in the Mexican communities. We are what journalists call hyperlocal –we cover the Mexican neighborhoods and people of Lakeside. Our hope is that we can help bring the two communities closer together – being on the same page, so to speak. Every week the lakesidenewschapala.com volunteer Translation Team will  translate every story from Semanario Laguna’s news bureaus in Chapala, Ajijic, San Juan Cosalá, and Jocotepec into English and rewrite them in US/Canadian journalism style. They will also collaborate with the Mexican reporters and writers to produce in-depth news stories and features in English, all about Lakeside.
