The third edition of the Chapala 21K (13.1-mile) Half Marathon took place on Sept. 16 in the municipal capital, with a route that ran from downtown Chapala to the La Floresta area in Ajijic. The athletic event brought together hundreds of runners and visitors, establishing itself as one of the most important sporting events in Lakeside.

The competition included four categories: Half Marathon (21K), 10K, 5K, and 3K Walk, with men’s and women’s age-group divisions. This year, participation was limited to 2,000 runners, who filled the streets with energy, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

The event organizers highlighted the atmosphere of camaraderie that was experienced during the race through social media, posting:

“The Chapala Half Marathon 2025 was more than a race… it was unity, effort, and community. None of this would have been possible without our incredible sponsors… Their support left a mark on every runner.”

In addition to the sporting aspect, the 2025 edition had a social focus, collecting rice, beans, sugar, canned goods, and other non-perishable items that will be donated to families in vulnerable situations.

The Chapala Half Marathon is an urban race certified and approved by the Mexican Federation of Athletics Associations (FMAA), which confirms its growth and professionalization.
