The Jocotepec men’s team advanced to the final phase of the Jalisco Cup as group leader and will host Jalostotitlán this Sunday, April 19, in the second leg. The match, which will determine who advances to the next round, will take place at 4 p.m. at El Empastado (The Grass Field) pitch, located next to the fire station in the municipal seat.

After playing the first game of the series in the Altos Sur region of Jalisco, the lakeshore team closes out the series at home with the mission of overcoming the initial knockout stage, a phase where they were eliminated in the previous two editions of the tournament. Head coach Sergio López Llamas told Semanario Laguna of his determination to advance and put the results of the past two tournaments behind him, where the team excelled in the regular season but was eliminated early.

López Llamas noted that, unlike in previous years when personal commitments abroad distracted him from the bench, he is currently fully focused on the team’s performance. The coach expressed confidence in his players’ dedication and in the positive impact that the support of the local fans will have in motivating the team amid the pressure of the single-elimination matches.

The coach emphasized that Jocotepec’s fans’ enthusiasm fosters greater commitment to the club, noting that he is satisfied with the team’s current cohesion. Sunday’s match represents an opportunity for the local team to solidify its lead and keep its path to the title of the state’s most important amateur tournament alive.
