With a haul exceeding 200 gold medals and a total of 490 medals, Jalisco reaffirms its dominance at the top of the National Olympics medal count. With less than a month remaining in the competitions organized by the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), the blue and gold delegation seems to be marching unimpeded toward another title.

As of Monday, May 11, Jalisco solidified its first-place position with a record of 204 gold, 154 silver, and 132 bronze medals. This tally gives it a commanding lead over its closest competitor, Nuevo León, which has a total of 292 medals. Baja California remains in contention for a podium finish from third place with 157 medals.

The day’s historic moment came with the 200th gold medal, won by swimmer Fernanda García after her victory in the 50-meter freestyle. García not only reached this symbolic milestone for her state but also established herself as the top individual athlete of the delegation by winning nine gold medals, a statistical feat not seen at the competition for over a decade and a half.

This multidisciplinary event, which brings together 11,400 athletes from across the country, began on April 14 and will keep the competitive fire burning until June 6.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the National Olympiad is headquartered in the state of Puebla; however, due to the event’s scale, it also has strategic sub-venues in Jalisco, Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, Nayarit, Yucatán, and San Luis Potosí, solidifying its position as Mexico’s most important sports training ground.
