The FIFA Fan Fest zone in downtown Guadalajara was packed to capacity, with 61,000 fans witnessing Mexico’s victory over South Korea. The venue reached its maximum capacity five hours before the June 18 match, prompting some fans to force their way in by knocking down security barriers. 

Emergency personnel also treated multiple people for dehydration and heatstroke. According to the report from Jalisco Civil Protection and Fire Department, five patients had to be transported for medical care; most cases were due to complications from chronic conditions. There were also multiple cases of dehydration, heatstroke, and exhaustion from not eating.

In a fenced-off area, attendees desperate to get in began pushing against the metal barriers until they bent them, forcing their way through and allowing a crowd of people wearing green T-shirts to enter. The situation was brought under control by members of the National Guard and Public Safety forces, who intervened to contain the situation and prevent further risk.

In downtown Guadalajara—including Plaza de la Liberación, the surrounding plazas, and other nearby areas—an attendance of 61,000 people was reported at the Guadalajara Fan Festival, where they witnessed the national team secure a one-goal victory over South Korea.
