Zapopan will host the 2026 Mexico Diving Cup from July 16 -19 at the Metropolitan Aquatic Center. The event will bring together divers from nine countries and help Mexican athletes prepare for upcoming international competitions.

Teams from China, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, Fiji and Mexico will compete. Eleven Jalisco divers will face some of the world’s top divers, gaining valuable international experience. 

Among the competitors is Lía Cueva. She said the event is an important step in her preparation for the World Junior Diving Championships, scheduled for Aug. 21-28 in Croatia.

Competition begins on July 16 with preliminary rounds in the women’s 3-meter springboard and men’s 10-meter platform. The competition concludes with finals in both divisions on July 19. 

Iván Bautista Vargas, head coach of Team Jalisco Diving, said competing at home allows local athletes to face world-class opponents and gain valuable experience for future events.
