Jalisco sailor Emiliano Villaseñor Gutiérrez, originally from Ajijic, won the bronze medal in sailing during the final stage of the 2026 CONADE National Olympics. The competition took place in the waters of Progreso, Yucatán, where the young athlete established himself as one of the best youth athletes in the country.
Representing the Jalisco state team in the ILCA 7 event, Villaseñor demonstrated remarkable consistency throughout the nine races. The athlete managed to maintain his podium position despite the intense weather conditions and strong winds that characterized the series of competitions along the Yucatán coast.
In statements to Semanario Laguna, the medalist acknowledged the physical demands of the competition. Villaseñor explained that the wind conditions at the venue presented a significant challenge, as they differed from his usual training environment, forcing him to adjust his technique to remain among the top finishers.
As of May 11, the Jalisco delegation reaffirmed its leadership in Mexico’s most important sporting event. With the contributions of athletes like Villaseñor, the state had accumulated a total of 204 gold, 154 silver, and 132 bronze medals, placing it at the top of the overall standings.
