Atlas de Guadalajara received a world-class offer to acquire Brazilian soccer star Neymar, a member of the Santos Futebol Clube team in Brazil’s national league.
Neymar’s agent met with Atlas’s new ownership to propose a deal for the decorated Brazilian forward. The proposal was well received by businessman José Miguel Bejos, opening the possibility for the club to sign an elite international star like Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior.
Sport commentator Paco González made the announcement during the TUDN U.S. broadcast of the match between Cruz Azul and Atlas, a game that saw Atlas eliminated from the Liga MX championship race.
Neymar, a member of the Brazilian national team, participated in three World Cups, played for F.C. Barcelona in the Spanish league and Paris Saint-Germain in France, and had a stint with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. The 35-year-old is estimated to be worth 10 million euros (11.73 million USD). A potential deal is reportedly under consideration, as he is still under contract with Santos FC through December 2026.
