Athletes from Lakeside took silver and gold at the 2026 CONADE (National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport) National Games, on one of the country’s biggest sports stages.

Winning a gold medal, Jocotepec’s Tadeo Rayo, turned in an outstanding performance bringing home a sought-after top spot on the podium for Jalisco at the 2026 National Olympics. Another Chapala, fifteen-year-old,  Eloy Barragán of  the Jalisco team, won a silver medal in sport climbing at the 2026 CONADE (National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport) National Games. He competed in the U17 category, for athletes born in 2010 and 2011, and became one of the state’s top performers after the competition ended on Friday, April 19.

On the other hand, Tadeo Rayo Gama, from the Chapala region, won gold in track cycling at the CONADE 2026. Although he comes from a cycling dynasty in Chapala, the athlete trains and resides in Jocotepec, consolidating the victory for Jalisco at the CODE Paradero.

The medal marks Barragán’s return to the podium in his third straight appearance at Mexico’s top youth sporting event. He won gold in 2024 and finished outside the top three in 2025. After three days of competition on the climbing walls, he now adds a second national medal to his record.

The 2026 edition of the CONADE National Games is being held across several states in Mexico. Events such as sport climbing, artistic gymnastics, and tennis are taking place in Puebla. Tlaxcala is hosting track and field, and will finish the schedule with trampoline gymnastics. Meanwhile, Nayarit is hosting sports such as triathlon and indoor volleyball, while rowing and canoeing events are being held in Guanajuato.

According to CONADE’s official schedule, the competitions will continue until the closing ceremony on June 5. With the latest available tally including the medals by Rayo and Barragán, Jalisco has 139 total medals so far at the 2026 CONADE National Games: 52 gold, 42 silver, and 45 bronze. This keeps the state firmly at the top of the national medal table as of the April 21–23 updates.
